2008 Winners of the Slideshare World's Best Presentation Contest

Surfing around some blogs, I discovered a link to what seems to be the 2008 Winners of the Best Presentation Award. http://blog.guykawasaki.com/2008/09/winners-of-worl.html

I saw the presentation "Thirst" and thought to myself that it really looks like "Shift Happens". Turns out "Thirst" was designed by the same guy who designed "Shift Happens", Jeff Brenman of Apollo Ideas. He certainly seems to have a particular style.

What I found most interesting was the reaction of several of the response posts to the "Thirst" presentation. The majority of respondents felt that none of the winners were actual "presentations", in the traditional sense. Many didn't "get it".

Are we, as a group, unusual to think that presentations like "Shift Happens" and "Thirst" are the way to go?
