IT 5130: Week 9 Tools
Freepath http://www.freepath.com/
Freepath is presentation software for business presentations, online meetings, sales presentations, training, PowerPoint control, video playback and a lot more.
Freepath allows you to create a playlist from a variety of sources, including PowerPoint presentations, documents and multimedia formats. Freepath lets you control the movement to the next portion of the playlist, so you’re not looking at one continuous PowerPoint presentation. People will see only what you want them to see.
However, you’re not creating a self-running compilation of PowerPoint slides and other document and multimedia. Freepath has no playing abilities of its own and uses the native applications in which the information was created.
One big drawback is that Freepath works in a dual monitor environment. You can use a single monitor environment to create your playlists and then test them in a mini-Viewer. However, you can only view full screen Freepath shows if you’re using a dual monitor or projector environment.
Another big drawback is that Freepath is not free. It costs $249 and the software has to be loaded onto the computer you’re using to present. You also have to have the different programs that any other documents or media requires loaded onto the presentation computer.
TextTheMob
http://textthemob.com/
TextTheMob allows you to create polls and message boards for specific events. People at the events can participate via text messaging and you can see the results in real time.
One handy feature is the swear word filter. However, as we’ve all seen on other message boards, there’s always a way to get your message across without spelling out the word.
